Ferry crash in Helsingborg – Sweden Radio

Ferry crash in Helsingborg – Sweden Radio

A ferry that runs between Helsingborg and Elsinore crashed on Sunday evening with a pier in the port of Helsingborg.

At 21 o’clock on Sunday ran an HH Ferries vessel, Mercandia, into the pier in Helsingborg. Two people, one from the crew and a passenger were taken to hospital by ambulance, said Maya Forstenius, information officer at the police in Skåne. They are reported to have minor injuries.

One of the passengers, Jimmy Lundberg, sat in the café Erian when the ferry crashed:

– Shelves, dinnerware and everything else just raged out. I saw an elderly lady who hit my head and got a gash on his forehead, he says to hd.se.

The accident is confirmed by line manager Henrik Rørbæk, who says he currently do not know what caused the accident.

– Right now we koncentererar us on passengers and staff on the ferry, he says when P4 Malmo Castle reaches him just before 23.

How do you see this event?

– It is always serious when something happens, not least because of our passengers. We will investigate the accident and see if there is something we must change.

The police have set up a notification of negligence in sea traffic. All occupants were out of the boat at 22.30, according to police.
