Many detached houses with private sewers can not cope with today’s environmental requirements and more and more homeowners get ahead of the visit of the municipal environmental protection inspectors. It worries homeowners.
Many are also outraged that municipalities can charge high fees for their inspections and to give permits to build new sewers.

Ann-Sofi Eriksson, Head of Section at the Swedish Association of Local Authorities Authorities and Regions (SKL), states that municipalities have the right to charge fees for the inspection, but some choose not to do so, and instead taking it out via taxes.
– The Environmental Code says that the polluter must pay, even for permit applications, she says.
