According Laolu Akande, , a spokesperson for the government, all ministries and government institutions, agencies and authorities from now begin to go through the accounts and channels approved by the Central Bank for the transfer of all state revenues, income and management of receipts.

– This action will specifically promote transparency, said Akande.

Muhammadu Buhari is a former hard-General and leader of the country’s former military regime. He won the presidential election last spring – including on promises to fight the country’s decades ingrained corruption.

He has previously said that roughly corresponding to 1 300 billion of public funds has embezzled in the last ten years.

In July stated Buhari the government to trace and recover the “staggering” amounts of money stolen from the state oil sector, which accounts for 70 percent of government revenue in Africa’s oil producing country.
