Kamprad, none of billion dividend – Expressen

The foundation that owns the IKEA Group has started to demand payouts on billions from Ikea, according to Dagens Industri.

But Ingvar Kamprad and family may not be part of the money.

– Ownership is forever transferred to the foundation and any dividends or other payments to the family are not allowed says Göran Grosskopf, Kamprad’s confidant and president of the Foundation.

It is the foundation Stichting Ingka Foundation, which owns the IKEA Group. Already in the early 1980s sent Ingvar Kamprad ownership to this foundation. Then he handed over his shares to the Ingka owns 100 percent of the IKEA Group. If it would be listed price would likely end up on more than 500 billion, estimates Dagens Industri.

Earlier, the Foundation has commissioned Ikea maintain their profits.

There has been change to.

The last two years it has paid out over 34 billion in dividends, according to Dagens Industri.

– The background is that we want to strengthen capital in order to fulfill our primary mission, namely to ensure Ikea Group’s survival. If there is, for example, an economic crisis and we will be able to recapitalize, says Göran Grosskopf, Foundation Chairman, DI.

There is no policy on how much the owner may charge. But there are only two things you can do with money: Reinvest in Ikea Group or give to charity through the IKEA Foundation.

And not a penny goes to the Kamprad family, says Göran Grosskopf.

– All the same question. But neither Ingvar or someone else in the Kamprad family can pick out a dime. Ownership is forever transferred to the foundation and any dividends or other payments to the family is not allowed, he says in DI.

Kamprad still have control over the company, via their sons Jonas and Peter Kamprad sitting in the foundations’ boards . In addition, people listen to Ingvar Kamprad, although he has no formal role anymore.

– Ingvar Kamprad is 89 years old and has deservedly less active than before. But he remains extremely vital and interested. Ikea is his life. As long as he stands up, he will continue to contribute, says Göran Grosskopf in DI.
