Norway’s new banknotes, and why would a torskhuvud not be the motive?

All of the new notes is linked to the Norwegian maritime history and the series is called “the Sea”.

Cod adorns the 200-lappen, a lighthouse, the 50-patch, the preserved vikingabåten Gokstadskipet 100-lappen, a Colin Archer-boat 500 sek and a wave on the open sea 1 000-patches.

the Motifs on the reverse sides consist of patterns that follow the Beauforts vindskala.

They have already been called “the world’s most beautiful banknotes”, claiming the central bank, the Norges Bank, who proudly talk about “something completely new in the international banknote design”.
