Anders Borg’s warning: “It is a nightmare” – Aftonbladet

Visby. The British withdrawal from the EU has caused great concern – even in Sweden.

According to the ex-Finance Minister Anders Borg (M) mode can be even worse.

– Looking ahead one year nightmare that we sit with Donald Trump in the White house and Marine Le Pen in the Elysee Palace, he said.

His political career is over, but the ex-Finance Minister Anders Borg (M) continues to visit the political week in Visby.

the British decision to leave the EU – brexit – has been much discussed since the referendum. Borg called the decision “a political disaster”.

– We live in a new political landscape after brexit. Conflicts, populism and opposition puts a new framework for the policy, which is very hard.

Worried about the future

Borg is also worried about the future, including how it will go in the presidential elections in the United States and in France.

Right now discussed the EU how the relationship with the United Kingdom to look forward. Borg says that it is incredibly important for Sweden to the Union finds a close relationship with the British.

– Politically we need the British. We have Putin, IS and migration to be handled. But even financially, you are looking at Volvo and Ericsson so you are totally dependent on London as a financial center. If you build a wall around London, it is our companies that lose it.

Praises Minister of Finance

Borg also fits on the shelf Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S), for the way she acted after brexit when she and the government tried to collect Sweden both politically and in business.

for a long time, the UK has been an important partner for Sweden in the EU. But now he is disappointed in David Cameron’s government and the conservative Tory party.

It was Cameron who decided that the question of Britain’s future in the EU would be decided in a referendum.

– the British government and the Tories have plunged Europe and the UK in a very difficult situation and it can be critical. If you could have avoided it or not is always difficult to know in retrospect, says Borg.

Looking ahead Borg warns of populism and rising discontent in many places. He points out the high unemployment in Europe and the growing inequality in the United States as the reason for brexit and success of Trump and Le Pen.
