First 5G networks in Sweden in 2018 – 99mac

After the 4G / LTE will 5G and according to a press release from Telia and Ericsson will first network to Sweden 2018th

The development of next generation mobile wireless networks, 5G, is progressing rapidly and now competes more about becoming the first to commercialize the unfinished standard. Telia and Ericsson said they will roll out the 5G networks in Sweden and Estonia beginning in each country’s capitals in 2018, reports Sweclockers.

Stockholm and Tallinn are two of the world’s most connected cities and now we are taking the next level. 5G will create new opportunities for innovation, ecosystems and great service to our customers. I can not wait until I get to see what new opportunities 5G create in Stockholm and Tallinn, said Johan He Lind, President and CEO, TeliaSonera.

The two telecom giants are working together with to develop and test the new technology. While companies have an ambitious goal, they are probably not the first 5G, like the introduction of 4G in late 2009.

Previously 99mac reported on how the South Korean telecom operator KT Corporation intends to do a public demonstration during the Olympic Winter Games in 2018. But other players like Verizon and Huawei have talked about rolling out 5G networks.

No matter who will be first come 5G networks to get a significant role. Besides clear consumer demand for streaming high definition video technology is expected to be significant for the future of self-propelled vehicles and the internet of things.
