Airline tickets fall in price – throughout 2016 – Swedish Dagbladet

Prices for flying has steadily been depressed for many years and there is no indication that the trend is about to reverse. On the contrary. According to the Swedish flight price index, a compilation made by travel search engine Travelmarket.se, prices for making trips dropped on several routes.

The comparison is made with the corresponding period last year and applies in this case journeys made in the middle February. The average price for making a long-haul flight from Stockholm is now 4327 kronor, down 10 percent compared with a year ago.

According to Ole Stouby, president of Travelmarket.se, will likely flight prices continue down during the rest of the year. The reason is that competition between airlines remains fierce while getting a better deal when the price of fuel goes down.

The survey man looked at fares from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen to destinations Bangkok, Los Angeles, New York, Dubai and others.

Although prices for flying within Europe has been pressed, and in this case it is primarily the low cost airlines, which, according to the survey, helps to push down prices.
