Ockelbo, Sweden’s at least equal pay – Radio Sweden

– Yes, it is no fun tasks. It we look at. We are a small municipality, with men working in senior management positions. They are older and have worked for many years, so it can affect the pay gap, ” says Monica Wåhlström, personnel manager at Ockelbo municipality.

In most of the country’s municipalities serve men generally more than women, according to the new report on equality from the Swedish association of local authorities and regions, SALAR. But Ockelbo has thus Sweden’s largest lönegap between the sexes.

In Gävleborg also has Sandviken, Söderhamn and Ljusdal comparatively large lönegap. Here is the men’s medianlön more than 1 600 kronor higher than women’s.

– It is far to the forest of errors, ” says Barbro Andersson, chairman of the Swedish Municipal in Gävleborg, sweden.

– To a certain extent I think that it depends on that there have been major industries in which many men worked so salaries have drifted apart. It is equal in Sandviken where Sandvik has been a dominant employer and then becomes a pay gap huge, ” she says.

In Ockelbo has an external consultant begun to see over the municipal salaries.

– Now we are using a salary survey, and when it is ready we will analyse it and look at the unwarranted pay differences, ” says the director of human resources Monica Wåhlström.

But Barbro Andersson at the Municipal generally believe that it is difficult to get more equal pay.

” we don’t want to, either, that the men should be back to catching up with this pay gap. We need to start looking at it from the outside and evaluate occupations on the basis of difficulty and responsibility, and these things that are in the lönekartläggningarna, ” says Barbro Andersson.
