Failed attempts to shrink Christmas – Swedish Dagbladet

– In retrospect , we know that Christmas sales in 2013, like most years, and probably even this year, hit a record. The fact that households is aiming to reduce its purchase does not mean they actually do, says Lisa Burden, the world around defends at the trade organization Swedish Trade.

According to the Swedish Trade Federation survey said almost every fourth asked that they plan to buy fewer Christmas gifts, Christmas food less and less Christmas decorations. Just about every tenth asked say they have plans to expand their Christmas celebrations.

Now it’s not just the question if some skinny julvanor in Swedish homes. According to another survey, each of us in the years to put 2881 dollars on Christmas presents, in all it will be Christmas presents for 18.5 billion kronor. Only three percent of respondents answered that they would not buy any Christmas presents at all.

This year’s Christmas, like last year, is favorable to the calendar. With few vacation days, those who work office hours to get a long uninterrupted rest. Yet only four percent of respondents who say that they do not celebrate Christmas at home.
