Rupert Murdoch to buy the company Sky – Media of Today

Rupert Murdoch is the owner of the distribution platform.

Mediemogulen Rupert Murdoch company, 21st Century Fox has bought the european television company Sky, tells Reuters. The purchase is carried out despite the fact that several investors openly shown dissatisfaction against the deal.

Fox said that it would bring a so-called “Scheme of Arrangement”, which means that it would require support from 75 per cent of Sky’s independent shareholders. Who votes to secure a deal which values Sky to a total of 18,5 billions of pounds.

– As the founding shareholders of Sky, we are proud to have participated in the growth and development. The enhanced features of the merged company will be supported by a more geographically spread and more stable revenue base. This combination provides a flexible organization that is equipped to succeed in a global market, ” says Fox in a statement to Reuters.

the Deal is presented five years after Rupert Murdoch’s failed attempt to buy the Sky. Rupert Murdoch owns 39% of Sky, and tried to the time to buy the remaining shares back, but the operation failed after several of the company’s tabloids was embroiled in a hacking scandal.

the price tag on the Sky landed on the 14.6 billion dollars. Sky is, inter alia, the Uk’s largest pay-tv network. The british pay-TV and broadband supplier lands around 22 million subscribers in the united kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria.
