Since it became known Nordea helped clients to place money in tax havens, the Bank of Defense said that all cooperation with the infamous Panama company, Mossack Fonseca, was completed in 2009. But on Wednesday could SVT’s Mission review, UG, reveal that the bank still will help customers – and that also new to come since then.

UG has been in contact with some of the Swedish Nordea customers are included in the documents. Some refer to their auditors, while others openly say they used the letter box companies to avoid tax.

But one of the customers , “The Icelander”, the Bank wants to keep the secret of their documents , through the Panama company. Assignment audit can now reveal that the man called Loftur Johannesson, and opened her first letterbox in Panama in 1972, the account is still active with Nordea.

The program singled him out by several sources as a successful arms dealer who in the 1970s and 1980s, bought the weapons of corrupt rulers. Weapons that he on behalf of the CIA will have smuggled to armed groups in Afghanistan and Somalia.

Data Johannesson, in day 85, mean is incorrect. In a comment to the UG writes his spokesperson:

“Mr Johannesson has been an international businessman mainly in aviation-related activities, and he rejects the allegations that he must have worked for some secret intelligence services.”

Nordea took over Johannesson as a customer after 2009 and in Panama the documents from 2015 forward, it will be 85-year-old has four active letterbox at Nordea.

However, big bank would not comment on the customer, even though sources say that he should have earned large sums on arms smuggling.

– we’re unable to comment on it because we can not and must not comment on individual customers, says Magnus Nelin, press Officer Nordea to Mandate review.
