Replace the Statoil name – to attract more women – Aftonbladet

As of today, you can not fill up your car at Statoil.

The now Canadian gasoline chain is switching name – to Circle K.

– This change comes at the right time, says Morgan Wiktorsson, president of Circle K in Sweden.

today, May 3, the Statoil filling stations in Europe to change its name to Circle K. First up is the gas station Länna / Skogås outside Stockholm.

– This change comes at the right time and gives us great opportunities. We hope to make a Circle K just as, or even more popular and familiar, which Statoil has been. We are now entering a new phase as part of a strong global brand with a clear local support, says Morgan Wiktorsson, president of Circle K in Sweden, in a press release.

“Want to attract women”

After the name change was announced late last year said Statoil’s marketing to the industry magazine Resumé it was partly a way to attract women.

– Statoil is a strong brand. Our challenge will be to create an equally strong brand in a short time. I think we handle this right, we have the possibility to retain our loyal customers, but also to reach a new audience of young people and women. It will be easier to absorb store offerings with Circle K. Statoil signals the oil companies, said marketing director Johan Bäckman then.



“The same places, the same products”

During the coming year, 490 Statoil -mackar to change shape, among other things, the classic blue color will be replaced by red, white and orange.

– Our customers will still face the same friendly staff with us, we remain at the same places and offers the same products and services that we have been known as Statoil, says Jacob Schram, Europe-president of the Canadian group Couche-Tard which in 2010 bought gasoline chain of Norwegian Statoil.

Although Statoil card will continue to be used as usual.

First, 2018 will mark the change on Europe 1500 stations to be fully implemented.
