Telia was the first 4g, but late in the upphottade variant turbo-4g. “We first wanted to create coverage,” said Martin Pehrsson, network manager at TeliaSonera Sweden.
TeliaSonera opened the world’s first 4G network in December 2009. But the company is late with the faster version that doubles the speed. Sometimes called the new upgrade for turbo-4g, sometimes “real 4G” and Telia launches 4G +.
The South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom was the first in the world with turbo-4g already in summer 2013.
Only now state Telia that the company begins expansion of turbo-4g and promises a doubling of the speed.
– We already have over 500 base stations with 4g + in time, and almost all of Stockholm has coverage. I came up to 295 Mbit / s according Bredbandskollen when I drove past Berzelii Park in Stockholm, says Mats Pehrsson.
One reason is that not all subscribers had time to acquire the latest mobile models, adapted for turbo-4g .
the theoretical maximum speed of Telia’s turbo-4g is 300 Mbit / s. But it is not bringing all subscription types. Private subscriptions, for example, to limit to a maximum of 20 or 40 GB per month, you get a maximum ceiling of 100 Mbit / s.
Telia will this time not even the first in Sweden to upgrade. Mobiloperoperatören Three began their expansion just before Christmas.
