Leader: Ostling and Löfven should cooperate – Dagens Industri

He told me in an interview with Di last Friday that he has an old, very good, relationship with Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. He should make every effort to use the relationship to drive Löfven to make important decisions that benefit jobs, education and integration.

Leif Östling,
as honorary doctorates at Luleå University of technology, can also show both politicians and business opportunities available to develop Sweden beyond Stockholm. In Vindeln, just over 5 mil off Umeå, for example. It is a small, 5,500 inhabitants, but vital, industrial town. There is Rototilt, which manufactures rotators and system solutions for the construction equipment, has 160 employees in six countries (134 in Vindeln) and a turnover of SEK 400 million. The company is also growing by double digits.

“Between Vindeln and Robertsfors snowmobile trail of a higher standard than the road.”

Sounds brilliant. But the owner and CEO Anders Jonsson wrote a guest column on Swedish Enterprise’s website, he is a little worried. This applies particularly to the housing shortage and poor infrastructure. It is not built for no one dares invest in sparsely populated areas.

As if it would not be opposed to a rural area where entrepreneurship is flourishing, in Vindeln are two more companies in Rototilt size, and a couple with 30-50 employees, and depopulated with galloping unemployment.
Anders Jonsson writes that many of the employees commute from Robertsfors “and, quite honestly, between Vindeln and Robertsfors snowmobile trail of a higher standard than the road.” With better roads, it would be easier to commute, and thus easier to recruit qualified personnel. Salvation is still close to the university city of Umeå.

It’s been very writings about Spotify and the housing crisis in Stockholm recently. But the relative importance of regional Rototilt is considerably larger. And if you really want the “whole of Sweden must live”, you should do the obvious efforts in areas that show own growth force. The question is whether Rototilt fit in Löfvens “nyindustrialisering”?
