Inflation rose in both the euro area as a whole of the EU – Swedish Dagbladet

The expectations of the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) stood at 0.3 percent, according to a survey by Bloomberg News. Eurostat’s flash estimate for inflation in May also showed 0.3 percent inflation.

During the month of May rose prices 0.2 percent in the euro area, compared with the previous month.

Core inflation (HICP excluding food, energy, alcohol and tobacco) amounted to 0.9 percent in May, compared with 0.6 percent the previous month. Analysts had expected a core inflation rate of 0.9 percent, in line with the preliminary outcome.

In all EU countries , the inflation rate was 0.3 percent in April, compared with 0, 0 percent the previous month.

The lowest inflation rate among the euro countries measured in Cyprus, -1.7 percent. The highest inflation rate measured in Malta, at +1.3 percent. The Swedish HICP inflation rate was measured at 0.9 percent in May, up from 0.5 percent the previous month.
