150 employees laid off at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik. The reason is two-loss orders in the past year.

Altogether, around 1,000 people at the company today and notice affects only salaried. The employees were informed of the layoffs today and now begins the trade negotiations.

– We have gone into a slump. It is all about big business at 3-4 billion, says Tommy Gustafsson Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds.

The company, which manufactures tanks and tracked vehicles, has in recent years lost two orders from both Canada and Denmark, which now results in the large layoff. In the past five years the number of employees at the company fluctuated between 750 and 1,400 employees, depending on how it looked with the orders.

– This is the type of market we’re working on. Transactions will intermittently. Are there any years when we do not get an order, we get a bigger dip. We rely on the big stores, says Tommy Gustafsson Rask.
