Bromma airport has no future – Aftonbladet

The investigator Anders Sundström is right. The sooner Bromma is closed down, the better.

Or, as he put it on this morning’s press conference: Bromma has still no future. There is no domestic flights that increase, there are international flights that will double and then it’s Arlanda must be expanded.

Anders Sundstrom had hardly recovered from the crisis of Swedbank. Today, he was back in the spotlight and probably he provoked both Gotland and northerners when he dismissed Bromma future.

Symbolic question

The issue of the airport has become almost symbolic. It cuts between town and country. Between Stockholmers who want to build homes and the rest of the country who want to be able to land in central Stockholm. The question is really about who should decide Stockholm – those who live there or those who want to go there?

That means no gain in time to fly to Bromma, for those who want to proceed to the central city usually roads in western Stockholm just plugging. As it is often faster to take the punctual public transport from the airport.

Ensures air

Those who live outside Stockholm have rather seen Bromma as a guarantor for the flight to Norrland and Gotland will be left. Bromma has stood for competition. But do not we need two airports to preserve competition, the important thing is that there is capacity.

Anders Sundström’s proposal to immediately start planning for a fourth runway at the airport is therefore entirely logical. He wants to concentrate the flight to a hub, where it is easy to change planes. “For even northerners want to fly abroad.”

Director of Flight

Today is the most business that uses Bromma, but a fourth runway at the airport would ensure the availability as directors want . And Anders Sundström should know, he himself has some experience of the flight director.

Best of all is that Bromma airport and all of its approach zones could become residential. At least 30 000 homes with 60,000 residents would reduce the severe housing shortage in Stockholm.

Anders Sundström’s assessment is that Bromma airport can be closed when the new runway at the airport is completed. This means that it is urgent. The lead time is 20 years, so the government needs to urgently decide on the expansion of the airport.
