Cheaper fares and more routes made to the number of air passengers globally increased by 6.3 per cent in 2016 compared with the previous year. This, according to the årssiffror from flygbranschorganisationen IATA.
the Greatest increase took place in the Middle east with 11.8 percent. Significantly slower was the rise in Europe with 4.8% and north America at 2.6 per cent. IATA warns of a more protectionist development with, for example, the president of Donald Trumps inresestopp for people from seven countries.
“We must defend the social and economic benefits from the barriers that are set up from to be able to travel,” says Alexandre de Juniac, head of the IATA in a statement.
