The BBC is to say, up more than 1,000 – Swedish Radio

The British public service broadcaster the BBC wants to cut down the number of services with more than 1,000 people.
Writes The Guardian newspaper today.

The reason is that more households than expected transition to abolish the television and just watch TV online. It allows licensed money to the BBC decreases and the BBC expects revenue of nearly 2 billion next year and the year after.

In the first mode, the cuts among staff lead to a saving of approximately SEK 650 million. This may mean that more cuts are expected at the BBC.

The reduction is made among the administrative staff and management functions, and several divisions could be merged, reducing the need for personnel.

BBC Director General Tony Hall said at a staff meeting today that the BBC faces major economic challenges and need to focus on continuing to deliver high quality programs on radio and television.

The BBC has 18 000 employees today.
