The negotiations in Greece delayed – Hufvudstadsbladet

Negotiations on a new support program for Greece is delayed by a few days.

It was meaning that the talks in Athens would begin on Monday, after having been postponed by a few days because of difficulties finding a safe meeting place.

According to a source at the Greek Ministry of Finance initiated the talks now on Tuesday. Heads of the negotiating delegations from the EU, the European Central Bank (ECB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrive one or two days later. They will be in place on Thursday.

A spokesman for the EU could not confirm the timetable, but said only that the representatives travel to Athens in the coming days.

According to Greek sources, the delay in technicalities and not on political or diplomatic reasons. All obstacles to negotiations were cleared out of the way when the Greek Parliament approved the reforms that the Troika has demanded.

It is intended that negotiations on the new bailout package will be ready in good time before 20 August. When will Greece pay back a loan of 3.2 billion euros to the ECB. Before that, the contract shall be approved by the Greek Parliament and a number of euro area countries, a process that can easily take more than a week.
