Nokia gets 2.8 billion of Here – Hufvudstadsbladet

Nokia sells mapping and navigation service Here to a consortium consisting of the German car manufacturers Audi, BMW and Daimler for EUR 2.8 billion.

– This is it latest step in the transformation of the company, said Nokia CEO RajeevSuri in a press release.

The sale is expected to be completed during the first quarter in 2016.

Earlier it was reported that also taxi service Uber and China Tencent Map Info and have been interested in the service. The New York Times wrote in May that Uber had offered 2.7 billion euros for Here.

On the Nokia Annual General Meeting in May said that Suri Here can be sold as a whole, partially or not at all. Since the spring, there have been rumors of carmakers interest of the service.

Nokia bought Navteq mapping services in October 2007 for the entire 5.7 billion euros. Here are based far in Navteq technology.
