Starbucks opens in central Stockholm – Swedish Dagbladet

Starbucks has been in Sweden since 2010, when the cafe opened at Arlanda Airport. And having established themselves in the Stockholm Central Station, it has now become time for cafe chain to expand in the capital.

And it takes place on Main Street 2 at Stureplan, even before the year end. At the end of counting Starbucks having eight coffee shops in Sweden. There is already one among others also in Gothenburg.

– It is an honor to open the first Swedish Starbuck unit outside the main stations and airports in central Stockholm. It’s a very good starting point for further growth in Sweden and an important step, not only for Starbucks in Sweden but also for Umoe Restaurants in Sweden, says Joannis Vendrig, manager of Starbucks on Umoe Restaurants, licensee for Starbucks in Sweden.

Earlier in the day also announced Ica that they have entered into a partnership with Starbucks. The food chain plans to open Starbucks Coffee inside the larger supermarkets, as Ica Maxi Ica and Quantum. In the first phase, three cafes to be opened adjacent to Ica Maxi, the first in the Stockholm area early next year.

– It’s all about making our venues as attractive as possible. We know that a cafe of Starbucks type helps to draw customers to the sites. And that in turn helps our core business, grocery, says Per Strömberg, CEO of ICA Group, to SvD Business.

The cafés will to be around 150 square meters and have their own entrances adjacent to ICA stores. By the end of next year, the bet will be evaluated, in order to possibly be expanded in the coming year.

– We’ll see how we do, then, that’s why we do a test first. But today, we believe that there is great potential in the collaboration, it might get some 20 cafés or so in the long run.

today announced that Starbucks will work with Selecta for placing coffee machines in the so-called semi-public spaces such as universities and hospitals.
