Greece’s finance minister resigns – Aftonbladet

Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis resign, said the news agencies AFP and Reuters.

The reason: It will help the country in the upcoming negotiations.

After the no side won in the Greek referendum last night said Yanis Varoufakis that the result is “a big yes to a democratic Europe”.

– This courageous ‘no’ vote tomorrow we will get in touch with our partners to find common ground, said the finance minister on Sunday evening.

Early Monday morning came reports that he resigns.

Varoufakis writes about the decision in his blog and says among other things that he had indications that some of the Eurogroup participants would prefer “his absence at meetings” and that it would be easier for Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in the forthcoming negotiations.

“For that reason I leave the Finance Ministry today,” writes Varoufakis and further state that he will fully support Tsipras, the new finance minister and the government.
