Telecom giant TeliaSonera has announced plans to change its name again. On April 12, the company will decide whether they should change the name to Telia Company. The reason for the name change is that the new name will better reflect the company’s new strategy, they write in a press release.
TeliaSonera has since 2.5 years back worked on a new strategy to adapt to the new market. In it, among other things, has entered into a new organization and operating model.
– We want to build new digital society and enable people, businesses and communities to be connected with everything that is important to them. Now we take the next step. The new name Telia Company is an important proof point of our trip where we create the new generation of telecom companies, says TeliaSonera’s CEO, Johan He Lind, in a press release.
The company has also worked to expand its geographical coverage. Their focus has been on expanding its market in the Nordic and Baltic countries. They have also chosen to liquidate some operations in Eurasia.
The activities that TeliaSonera operates in Norway and Estonia have previously renamed Telia. This means that four of the seven markets have called Telia. The new name believe TeliaSonera to reflect the company’s new common purpose.
– The new proposal on name, Telia Company, words and visualize this through our local brands that have already started to get a facelift, says Johan He Lind in the press release.
TeliaSonera has previously been called, among other things, TeliaSonera AB. The company will decide on the name change at their annual general meeting on 12 April.
