Total Energy Commission shall consist of eleven members: three from the Social Democrats, two from the Conservatives, and one each from the other parliamentary parties.

The Commission shall be headed by Energy Minister Ibrahim Baylan (S). Bo Diczfalusy, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, will serve as the Commission’s Secretary General.

– The various parties’ parliamentary groups will now nominate their candidates. The Commission’s work starts as soon as the nominations are complete. We anticipate that it will be in the coming weeks, said Victor Harju, acting press secretary Ibrahim Baylan.

Parliamentary Groups may nominate their own candidates freely.

– The only requirement is that we should have an equal opportunity commission, ie an equal distribution between men and women, says Victor Harju.

Text mission is to provide a basis for a broad political agreement on energy policy direction, focusing on the time from 2025 onwards.

The work will be conducted in three phases.

  • A knowledge-gathering phase where the Commission considers and selects scenarios for energy supply until 2050.
  • An analytical phase, where the impact of various scenarios studied and proposed amendments to the regulations are developed.
  • A negotiation phase, when the Commission agree on the main points of an energy-political agreement.

Energy Commission shall report its work no later than January 1, 2017 .
