– It is important that there is a norm, and we relate to it, but we must develop the standard so that it can prepare for changes in relative wages. Norm has worked well to provide real wage increases, but it has cemented the pay gap that existed when it was introduced in the 1990s, says Veronica Magnusson, chairman of the union Vision.
She says it important for Vision is that female-dominated sectors receive higher salary increases than male-dominated sectors to deal with the female and male work are valued differently.
most of Visions members have agreements without figures and Veronica Magnusson says they for a number of years given good pay increases.
– We have received wage increases that are approximately 0.5-1.0 percentage point higher than the norm in recent years. The outcome has been pretty good, she says.
Vision has good hopes that this year could get higher wage increases. In the talks, among other things, a serious shortage of social workers. Much remains to be done to tackle the pay gap.
– If it is done in a responsible way, it is a long number of years for other groups to think that they have a right wage, says Veronica Magnusson.
