(SIX) Long-term interest rates might take a leap upwards when interest rates begin to rise, said the US central bank Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen on Wednesday. The Federal Reserve will try to communicate their policy intentions clearly to the markets to avoid surprises, adds she said. It reports Dow Jones Newswires. Regarding the current financial risks Yellen believes that these are moderate, and not elevated. Low interest rates also have positive effects in terms of financial stability, she argues on.
