Tronskiftet: Now, Volvo is no longer Sweden’s most popular car – the Week’s Business

Utsläppsskandaler has not affected the swedes ‘ appetite for the German car brand.

American car sales reached a new record in 2016; over 372 000 new cars were consumed during the year, an increase of 8% compared with 2015. But the figures also reveals something else remarkable.

For the first time since the 60′s is the most sold car model, not a Volvo. The top knips instead of the Volkswagen Golf, which sold around 700 more cars than Volvo’s most popular model V70II. This writes Dagens Industri.

But Volvo still sells the most cars in Sweden in total, and four of the six most popular car models among car buyers in 2016 is the Volvo.

here are the 6 most sold cars in Sweden in 2016 (brand, number of cars sold):
1. VW GOLF: 22084
2. VOLVO V70II, S/V90N: 21321
3. VOLVO S/V60: 16755
4. VOLVO XC60: 16266
5. VW PASSAT: 15716
6. VOLVO V40N: 12691
