the Financier and the former minister Ulf Dinkelspiel is dead.
He died on Monday of cancer, 77 years old, according to Today’s News.
” It is very sad. He has done many good services, and the family were good friends, ” says king Carl Gustaf.
Ulf Dinkelspiel was diagnosed with cancer four months ago and on Monday morning he went away with the closest family at his side, writes DN.
Ulf Dinkelspiel started her career at the family company Öhman Fondkommission, where his father was managing director. He then chose to seek outside of the family business. He was employed at the state Department in 1962 and served, inter alia, in Tokyo, at the OECD delegation in Paris and in Washington, D. C. 1982 was Ulf Dinkelspiel ambassador and he was also the chief negotiator for the EC issues from 1988 to 1991.
His first political mandate he received in 1979 when he was recruited as state secretary in the Commerce department of the moderate minister for trade Staffan Burenstam. He was then appointed to the deputy kabinettsekreterare. Ulf Dinkelspiel was a member of the Conservatives until he became minister in 1991, in Carl Bildt’s government.

He continues:
” He was a friendly, talented and wise man, one of our foremost experts on EU issues. I complained early on that the Conservatives had not the wit to use him in the electoral campaign for the EUROPEAN elections.

“Sad news. Ulf Dinkelspiel has gone out of time. Always positive, educational and well-read. Remember in particular cooperation in the face of EU membership.”

Gunnar Hökmark was the Conservatives party secretary during the Ulf Dinkelspiels time in the government and Hökmark, writing on Twitter:

Even the Conservatives party leader Anna Kinberg Batra regret Ulf Dinkelspiels’s passing on Twitter:

Close colleagues
Anders Björck was the defense minister in the government of Carl Bildt (1991-94) and worked near the Ulf Dinkelspiel, then Europe and utrikeshandelsminster.
” We met almost every day and had much to do with each other. Defence equipment exports was not beneath me, as many thought, but the minister for trade. His big contribution as a politician was the way he led the negotiations with Sweden in the EU. A very solid bet.
Anders Björck continued:
- As a human being, he was always friendly and pleasant to deal with. A typical diplomat in the best sense of the word. I remember how Ingvar Carlsson hailed him and said it was one of the few gratifying with Bildt’s government, that the good Ulf Dinkelspiel came up with.
Anders Björck says that he was told before christmas that his old government colleague had become suddenly ill.
” I was told he had 14 days left, it was a little longer but not much.
Ulf Dinkelspiel leaves behind his wife Louise and three children.
