Samsung flying the flag for juicy vinstlyft – Västerbottens-kuriren (the Courier)

Economy. Samsung has been faster than expected improved after the autumn mobilfiasko. Fourth-quarter operating profit fell almost 50 per cent higher than the year before, according to the company.

In the traditional forecast before the interim report traces the south Korean electronics giant reported net profit for the fourth quarter of 2016 lands at about 9.2 trillion won, equivalent to about sek 70 billion. It can be compared with the profit of 6.1 trillion won in the corresponding period in 2015.

net Sales are expected to be broadly flat at 53 trillion won, about 400 billion.

Analysts, the AFP news agency spoke with said that wonens weakening and strong demand for memory chips and so-called OLED-screens for mobile phones contributed to the vinstlyftet, which was larger than expected. According to Reuters survey, analysts had on average expected an operating profit of 8.2 trillion won.

Samsung was forced in september to withdraw millions of copies of the Galaxy Note 7, that was supposed to be the company’s new flaggskeppsprodukt in mobile telephony, after several incidents where the mobile phone’s battery started to burn. During the third quarter plummeted the company’s operating profit by 30 per cent to 5.2 trillion won.

The complete interim report will be published at the end of January.
