the EPA is accusing Fiat Chrysler to have installed the software in the Jeep Grand Cherokees models from 2014 to 2016 and the Ram 1500, which allow them to exceed environmental requirements.

the EPA did not go so far as to call the program a “defeat device” but said that the automaker failed to disclose its use.

Fiat Chrysler responded that the device meets all available requirements and will work with Donald Trump’s administration to contest the allegations.

the Data on the EPA’s the allegations came first from Reuters. Later on Thursday evening confirmed the EPA. The course in Fiat fell steeply both in Milan and New York, when the data was published. The share was traded in New York at 19.50, around 8 percent down which was a slight recovery compared with a bottom of minus 15 percent when the rumor began to spread.

– the Idea of our company’s intention was to cheat is just nonsense, and there are no similarities between what Volkswagen has done and what now is claimed, said Fiat Chrysler ceo Sergio Marchionne to reporters on Thursday evening.
