She leaves her positions of trust in the parliament and will not stand for re-election in 2018. According to the press release, she has been asked by the party leadership to resign.

Anna Hagwall remain in the party. She also retains her riksdagsplats, which the group leader Mattias Karlsson commented in the press release:

"Whether Hagwall stops left on his riksdagsmandat the entire legislature out is ultimately a decision that rests with her and not with the party, then the parliamentary mandate is personal and does not belong to parties."

In an interview with SVT, she does not want to comment on the extent to which the decision was voluntary. She also says that her relationships with the party leadership is good and that she after their departure, feel "satisfied".
