Handelsbanken’s current CEO and CEO, Frank Vang-Jensen, is leaving his post, is seen in a news release.

– the decision is purely an individual matter. Handelsbanken unchanged strong and our long-term objectives remain unchanged, says Pär Boman, Chairman of the Board, according to the press release.

Anders Bouvin, as has been vice president of Handelsbanken since 2002, takes over CEO -posten immediately. He also takes over the role as CEO of the bank. Bouvin most recently served as head of Handelsbanken UK.

It is a united board after an extensive evaluation has determined that a change of CEO should be done now, it is clear from the press release. The bank also writes that the bank’s model requires leadership with a high degree of autonomy.

– To be chief executive of the bank therefore requires a special leadership – far more complex than traditional management. It can thus be an outstanding leader and manager – as Frank Vang-Jensen has been – but still does not fully meet the requirements for a CEO of Handelsbanken, says Pär Boman, according to the press release.

Matti Ahokas, analyst at Danske Bank, told TT that it is surprising given that Frank Vang-Jensen only served as CEO in a year and a half.

– for me it was very surprising that this is happening so quickly. At Handelsbanken, it is common to Managing stay long for stability, he said.

– It is also interesting that fairly thoroughly in the press release talks about the cause, they are trying to show that it is just a personal issue . That it is not about how the operation goes, he goes on.

Frank Vang-Jensen was a somewhat surprising choice for the post when he was appointed, among other things because of little experience high internal records and that he was the first CEO who was not Swedish, according to Ahokas. Anders Bouvin were among the speculation already Vang-Jensen was appointed.

– Anders Bouvin has been a long time in the bank and is known as a traditional handelsbankare. He feels like a natural successor.

Handelsbanken has called to the press conference at 10 am with the new CEO and Chairman Pär Boman.

Commercial Bank General Manager in UK Andrew Copsey, will become acting head of Handelsbanken in Great Britain when Anders Bouvin takes over as CEO.
