Euro-countries welcome the decisions of May – Västerbotten Courier

Spain and Portugal has for years failed to push down its budget deficit to the EU’s permitted maximum level of 3 percent of GDP. 2015 ended Portugal -4.4 percent and Spain at 5.1 percent.

For the first time now the European Commission decided to take the matter any further punishment for EU member countries, which discusses the matter on Tuesday. Subsequently, the Commission has 20 days to come back with proposals on sanctions.

Spain and Portugal in danger as most fine of the equivalent of 0.2 percent of GDP. Theoretically, however, the Commission is also proposing to zero in the fine, not to further worsen the financial situation in the two countries.
