The last war hero has died – fought against Stalin and Hitler – Sveriges Radio

On February 22, 1940 was 22-year old Jan Danielsen to Finland as a volunteer and was placed as a transport officer behind the front.

I do not want to say that all 8000 was war order.

– We grew up in a period when you can say that a large part of the Swedish people were in Finland and in Russia, said Jan Danielsen to P4 Örebro for more than a year ago.

– It formed an association called the Nordic region’s freedom and they managed to scrape together 8 000. I do not pretend that the 8000 war was working, there was a wide spectrum of people who joined.

On Saturday died in January Danielsen, confirming his wife Expressen. Thus there is no one left of the 300 Swedes who participated as volunteers in the fight against the Germans in Norway.
