No alleged bribery against Telia on Azerbaijan – Sveriges Radio

The National Anti-Corruption Unit has not been able to prove that bribery occurred.

– We have, despite concrete suspicions, with the tools we have available, failure to prove the bribery occurred, and whether we can not force intent, says Gunnar Stetler, prosecutor of the national Anti-corruption unit, said.

the preliminary investigation began after the TT and SVT’s Mandate review in May 2015 revealed what was suspected to be the by far the biggest bribe in Swedish history.

A business in 2008 with TeliaSonera proved to be worth at least six billion for the telecom company’s partners – by all accounts the presidential family in Azerbaijan. In return, Telia was able to conduct its business in the country, in the form of subsidiary Azercell.

Even though it’s been almost a year since the revelation earlier Stetler has not wanted to comment on whether there was an investigation.

– It would not have benefited the investigation, he said without wanting to elaborate, says Gunnar Stetler.
