Domestic Somebody threw a hand grenade in a trash can in Malmo tonight.
an anonymous person alerted police shortly before 23 o’clock yesterday and said they had seen someone throwing a hand grenade-like object in a trash can near Rosengårds center.
When the police arrived at the scene encountered the object, cordoned off a large area and called in bomb technicians.
– Initially, we could not determine if there was a sharp hand grenade, but it was only when the national bomb group was in place, we found that there was a sharp hand grenade, says Magnus Lefèvre, duty officer at Skåne police said.
the grenade was secured and taken from the scene. It was never up to date with any evacuation of the area where there are shops and homes.
– There is no direct threat, why the grenade would have ended right there we do not know at present. It’s a strange place to leave a hand grenade on, so to speak, says Lefèvre.
No suspected offender is arrested. Police hope to get observations that can help them find the culprit.
– The basic offense of possession of a hand grenade is actually not a felony, it’s only when there is risk of injury or life, he says.
