Obama piece together the relationship with Merkel – the sausages and beer – Aftonbladet

Since the revelation of the NSA espionage in Germany there has been frosty between Obama and Merkel.

Now it is about to change that.

Over Bavarian sausage and wheat beer, the two world leaders become friends again.

The annual G8 has become the G7 after Russia ruled since the country began annexing the Crimean peninsula. The summit will last for one day at the luxury hotel Schloss Elmau in the German Alps.

Early Sunday morning landed US President Barack Obama at Munich Airport.

In late April revealed that Germany has helped the NSA with espionage against European companies and top officials.

Since then, there have been frosty between President Obama and the host German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The figures showed that Merkel’s popularity plummeted after the spy scandal. European colleagues have asked themselves how much the BND (German intelligence) helped the NSA, writes Spiegel.

Now, Obama and Merkel after all show their unity against the world, and especially Russia.

Together they will on Sunday morning, meet the locals in the town of Krün to eat Bavarian sausages, according to the German Bild.

The newspaper also writes that the sausage breakfast is served wheat beer in front of the town hall in the small, idyllic alpine resort.

During the G7 meeting, representatives from the member countries (USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK, Japan and Italy) for a day to discuss how best to put diplomatic pressure on Putin and Russia.

While Greece’s economy and global warming will be on the program, writes the BBC online.

Earlier this week, gathered over 30 000 people to demonstrate against the G-7 leaders lyxmöte. Several protesters were taken to hospital after clashing with police.

The meeting has been planned for a year and is estimated to cost around 3 billion.
