Nordea takes less interest in Denmark – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Nordea in Denmark has recently issued a notice to its customers with the announcement that “corporate customers with large deposits can have negative deposit rate”. Affected customers will be contacted.

The negative interest rates is a result of the Danish Central Bank’s record low interest rate of -0.75 percent. Nordea as a result of this lowered savings rates of up to 0.75 percentage points. No private clients, however, according to Nordea burdened with negative rate.

– A small part of our corporate customers will have a negative interest on their accounts. This applies primarily to customers with large amounts in the account, says Maria Lindenberg at Nordea Denmark’s press department.

Interest rate change will take into force next week and less the interest rate for certain customers follow a similar reduction in Danske Bank . There had been ruled that 4 percent of the bank’s corporate clients will have to pay to have their money in the bank account.

Nordea in Sweden has no plans to follow their Danish colleagues.

– In Sweden it is a different situation and as it stands right now, we want to avoid less interest to our customers, says Petter Brunnberg, Press Officer at Nordea Sweden.
