Stampens owner Peter Hjörne has closed representation floor of the GP building and is now selling the art collection there.
The reason for the sale is the strained state of Göteborgs-Posten and Stampen. But the information that the sale should be forced by the banks rejected by Peter Hjörne.
– No it does not at all. But we are like many other newspaper companies under pressure and we are in agreement with the banks that we work down the group’s debt significantly. Given this, I made the decision last summer to sell smaller assets. Then we closed the reception rooms and added art to the sale.

– No, this is a symbolic decision. In Göteborgs-Posten now need people to leave their jobs and we are shrinking our faces as much as we can to save money. Being in the position to keep this type of assets would be insulting I think. In bad times, we must focus on the core business. That is why we are concentrating on journalism, sales, development and distribution.
But how does it feel to be separated from the artwork you purchased?
– It does not feel at all. There are dead things. This type of assets you can afford when it goes well. That we would keep them now would be amazing. So it is no drama without common sense behind. I bought art, now I sell it.
What about the apartment?
– Platzer own this building, so it is not a case of selling it.
Are there requirements from Stampens banks that this should be done?
– No, we are in complete agreement about what should be done and this is outside of it. It’s me who decided this.
