The situation is acute in Västerås Hockey and a reconstruction application is underway. – Aftonbladet

The Situation is acute in Västerås Hockey and reconstruction applications are in the pipeline.

The club must bring in 4-5 million to maintain its elite business.

– a third of the money must be in the next week, says chairman Camilla Törngren at today’s press conference.

VIK Hockey has had a heavy season purely sporting in the hockey allsvenskan. The team was before the season tipped to end up in the top of the table, but after a season of underachieving players and coaching change team finished in ninth place. A week ago came the news that the VIK Hockey also find themselves in a financial crisis. Today, the club held a press conference.

– We have had meetings every day since this came up. After the night’s meeting, it emerged that it takes between four to five million for elite business work. One third must be in next week, says chairman Camilla Törngren during today’s press conference.

Less if desired

Neither Törngren or club manager Johan Fägerblad want to hang out individuals. The Board assumes all responsibility and Fägerblad resign if desired.

– It is obviously right and responsibility of the Board that we had control. I myself have said to the chairman that I resign if desired, which I fully understand. Until and if that happens, I will fight, says club manager Johan Fägerblad.

Backlash of two million

Exactly why and how the club ended up in the economic situation they now find themselves can Törngren and Fägerblad not answer. But two million has been spent because the revenues have been lower than the club expected.

– It’s about a gap in the revenues of two million. We thought we had higher revenues and therefore spending more, says Törngren.

The gap has also led to the signers that would not be undertaken if the situation has been known.

– The late signings have recorded, we would never have carried them if we knew how it really looked like, says Fägerblad.

No talk of bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is not something that the club want to talk about. Instead, an application for reorganization is submitted.

– We’re not talking about bankruptcy in this situation. We’re talking about reconstruction. We will meet with the administrator tomorrow. We hope, says chairman Camilla Törngren.

Even two external economists have been added. There are shortcomings in several areas both in the structure and procedures mean Törngren.

– We have two external economists to review what we have done and what we have not done. They have worked independently and their work shows the same direction. There are shortcomings in several areas, such as not seen in regular reporting, says Törngren.

Need any help

There is an emergency and a third of the money must be in the next week. The Club will talk with sponsors and employees, but will need all the help they can get.

– We will need all the help. Every little helps. I hope and believe that our partners, supporting control and employees help out the situation. Today, I understand that you do not feel very proud of the VIK. But we have a plan and we believe in it, says club manager Johan Fägerblad.

“Do not even know if the club alive”

In January, kicked his club sporting director and has not hired any new. But it and all other recruitment is set aside until the economy is investigated.

– We need to get this through before we can recruit, says Fägerblad.

For the players are now waiting for an even more uncertain future. The club would not comment on how it will look like with contracts and wages. One of the affected players are Niklas Lihagen. The Centre came to Vasteras from Karlskrona for this season, and sits on a two-year contract.

– The only thing we know is that players that are out there on the web where we read like any other. I have a two-year contract but as it is now I do not even know if the club live, says Lihagen to nt.se.
